I was once asked whether I wanted to be an artist or a mother. The premise of the question seemed preposterous to me, because both art and motherhood play important aspects in my identity. It was like asking if I’d rather eat food or drink water; I need to strive in excellence with both to feel alive in body and soul.
Elaine Kalinowski is a painter and printmaker from Norwich Connecticut. She is originally from Long Island and moved to Connecticut to raise her children and support her husband’s career. She studied Fine Arts and Music at Alfred University in New York. After a long hiatus, she harnessed her life experiences to invest in herself and bring the joy of creating back into her life and family. She discovered she had an uncanny ability to bring people together and harness their gifts to manifest beauty and comradery. Her mission is to enrich her community through networking with local businesses and artists. Elaine loves painting, playing her ukulele, finding four leaf clovers and inviting new experiences into her life.
